HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE MAY BE ON ABC’S “WORLD NEWS TONIGHT”

Home Instead Senior Care franchise owners Roberta and Les Farnum of Charlotte, NC, recently contacted the Home Office with some very exciting news: namely, tomorrow evening (Thursday, January 24), they may be featured in an aging-related story on ABC’s “World News Tonight.”

Here’s the background.  Les was interviewed yesterday morning for a segment about “The Ivey,” a very upscale adult day-care facility which opened in their community about a month ago.  The facility is so new it doesn’t have many members, but in December, Roberta presented the owner with the idea of having some Home Instead Senior Care clients meet there monthly for stimulation and peer socialization.

The owner loved the idea and the Farnums were planning the first client gathering at The Ivey when the call came from Charlie Gibson’s producers at World News Tonight wanting to do a segment about luxury adult day-care options.  As a result, yesterday morning, an ABC crew filmed Les picking up his 89-year-old mother for her trip to the facility in a car appropriately emblazoned with a Home Instead Senior Care logo.  The producers also interviewed Les and his mother.

Again, the segment is supposed to air on tomorrow night’s ABC evening news.  Although Home Instead Senior Care may not be explicitly featured, there’s a strong probability that some part of the interview of Les will be used, and his car (with the network’s logo) should be displayed prominently.

As you know, the news business is fickle and subject to developments of the day, so this segment may not actually run tomorrow night—or at all.  But you may want to tune in just to be sure, especially since Charlie Gibson has shown a significant interest in seniors and senior-related issues.
